Hello, my name is Jo and I am a Certified Veterinary Technician and the founder of catcaretakersguide.com. I created this site to be a great cat care guide for cat parents and to answer your cat health questions.
Like you, most veterinary professionals are also pet owners. And like you, we go through a lot of the same headaches: hairballs, vomiting, diarrhea, peeing on the carpet, fleas, having to give pills, figuring out what the best cat food is, etc.
I have many years experience being a vet tech including working at a local shelter with cats, dogs, birds, bunnies, and mice. I have been working just with cats at a feline-exclusive clinic since 2010.
My special areas of interest are nutrition, dentistry, hematology, imaging, and holistic pet care. I help cat owners learn about raw diets.
Also, for a year I fostered cats for a local independent rescue group. This was a valuable experience that taught me that each cat is a unique individual, and no two are exactly the same (like snowflakes).
Cats have their own personalities just like we do, and they are very smart. I learned that the mental health of a cat is just as important as the physical health (which is why you need to play with your cat and provide mental stimulation).
True or False: People that work at cat clinics work there because they only like cats.
False! We also like and sometimes own other animals too!
The best way to contact me with your questions about cat health problems and symptoms is to leave a comment on any of my blog posts. I’d love to hear from you!
